Better get a reservation, they only have about 10-12 seats. Last time, I walked all the way from Asakusa station and I arrived 30 minutes early. The restaurant was empty but they stated that it was all booked up. In order for a guaranteed reservation, you will need to book through a 3rd party website (cost about $80 CAD per person to book and not including the food). Some people were lucky to show up without reservation. I end up taking to the ferry to Odaiba and eat instead lol
Great meal and experience at Sushi Isshin. It boasts one Michelin star rating at the time of writing and serves up great Edo-style sushi with rice seasoned with vinegar. The omakase option is between appetizer course (5 appetizers and 10 pieces of nigiri) or pure sushi (20 pieces). Personally, I'd recommend the appetizer meal as 20 pieces of sushi might be too acidic for the taste buds with the vinegar rice by the end of the course.P.S. If you are going to be visiting, it's worth checking out episode #15 from Japanese Style Originator available on Netflix as it covers Isshin's specialty in the sushi segment.
The chefs here specialize in Edomae sushi. They stick to old traditional methods, down to the equipment that they use. They cook rice with charcoal and store fish in a fridge that uses ice blocks instead of electricity. My favorite piece of sushi was the marinated maguro (tuna). I also find the tako (octopus) very special, as they marinate the octopus in a special red bean tea broth that has been maintained for years. Also, they only take cash. So be prepared.
Amazing sushi. So tasty and fresh. It was really fun to watch them work and the chef recommended some great sake as well.
Sushi were super fresh and delicious. New tastes were discovered!
Sushi were top level. Highly recommend place!
Very good sushi worth the price
Best sushi ever taste in Tokyo..hope to back one day..
Very nice place for sushi.
Great quality and decent prices. Came here randomly after landing and checking into a hotel nearby. We really enjoyed ourselves and foor was quite good along with the service. As expected. Nothing too amazing but really good if you're nearby, hungry and need a bite. Highly recommended.
Made a dinner reservation online via Jpneazy. Chefs were friendly and accomodating. We had the omakase set and every dish and piece of sushi was very delicious. The entire experience was very enjoyable and would certainly recommend for a great sushi meal.
